Where Vyapar is stronger
Based on Vyapar's own website, checked on 11 September 2026:
- GST compliance documents. It generates GST e-invoices with IRN and QR code and creates e-way bills from the billing screen. SteelERP does neither.
- Full accounting. It lists an accounting module with balance sheet, profit & loss, trial balance, journal entries and bank accounts, plus GSTR-1, GSTR-2, GSTR-3B and GSTR-9 reports. SteelERP is not an accounting package.
- Price of entry. A free mobile app, with paid yearly licences from ₹699 on Android and a few thousand rupees a year for desktop plus mobile.
- Devices and offline use. Android, iOS, Windows and Mac, working offline and online, in 9+ Indian languages.
- Counter hardware. Its POS billing connects digital weighing scales, barcode scanners and thermal printers. SteelERP has no weighbridge or scale integration.
Where SteelERP is built for steel
A steel order rarely ships as ordered. A 12-tonne order leaves in three trucks over a week, each load weighs a little different from the order, and the customer is billed on what actually went out. SteelERP is built around that:
- Ordered vs actual weight. Every item on a dispatch carries its ordered weight and its actual loaded weight; billing uses the actual, with tonnage conversions.
- Part-deliveries as first-class records. One order splits into delivery sub-orders by kg, metre or piece, each with its own loading, challan and delivery status.
- Purchase advices. One purchase order can carry several purchase advices, with goods receipt recorded against each advice.
- Yard stock and coils. Multi-warehouse stock, users limited to the yards they work in, and a coil-level ledger with allocation and movement history.
- Trading analytics. 50+ reports including GST summary, TCS and discounts, plus an advisory demand forecast, anomaly detection and reorder suggestions.

They are per licence, some features depend on the plan, and prices and taxes can change — check the current figures with Vyapar before you buy. We have not tested Vyapar on steel workflows; where a row says Vyapar offers something, that is Vyapar's own description.
Which one fits you
Vyapar alone is likely enough if
- You mostly sell from the counter, one order at a time, and deliver in one go
- A fixed unit conversion (pieces to kg) matches what you bill
- You want billing, e-invoice, e-way bill and books in one low-cost app
- You need offline use on a phone or laptop
SteelERP earns its place if
- Orders go out in several loads and the loaded weight differs from the order
- You run more than one yard and want each user to see only theirs
- You track coils individually and need their allocation and movement history
- You want dispatch, purchase-advice and stock analytics a billing app does not give you
Run SteelERP alongside accounting if
- Your operation needs SteelERP but your books, e-invoices and e-way bills must stay in an accounting tool
- Your accountant uses Tally Prime — SteelERP connects to it both ways
- You are on Vyapar: there is no built-in connector, so plan how sales reach your books
Frequently asked questions
Can SteelERP replace Vyapar?
Not for accounting and GST compliance. SteelERP does not generate GST e-invoices (IRN) or e-way bills, and it is not a full accounting package with ledgers, balance sheet and profit and loss. It runs the steel trading operation: inquiries, orders, weight-based dispatch, part-deliveries, challans, purchase advices, yard stock and the coil ledger. Vyapar's website lists e-invoicing, e-way bills and an accounting module, so a trader who needs those keeps an accounting tool alongside SteelERP.
Does SteelERP generate e-way bills or e-invoices?
No. SteelERP puts CGST, SGST or IGST with the HSN code on each order line and reports GST summary, TCS and discounts, but e-way bill and e-invoice (IRN) generation are not built. Vyapar's website says it generates e-invoices with IRN and QR code and creates e-way bills from the billing screen.
How does weight-based billing differ between the two?
Vyapar's feature list describes item units: a primary unit, a secondary unit and a conversion rate per item, used when you sell and purchase in different units. SteelERP records the ordered weight and the actual loaded weight for every item on a dispatch and bills on the actual weight, with tonnage conversions and delivery sub-orders by kg, metre or piece. If your loads rarely match the ordered weight, test both on a real order before deciding.
Can I use SteelERP and Vyapar together?
SteelERP has no built-in Vyapar connector. Its accounting integration is two-way with Tally Prime: Tally pulls printed challans from SteelERP through an authenticated API, and SteelERP pushes to a webhook you provide. If your books are in Vyapar, you would move sales into Vyapar yourself or through a webhook receiver you build. If your accountant works in Tally Prime, the pairing is direct.
How do the prices compare?
On 11 September 2026, Vyapar's pricing page listed yearly licences such as Silver at Rs 4,399 and Gold at Rs 4,799 for one year on desktop plus mobile, with Android-only plans from Rs 699 a year. SteelERP's Starter plan is Rs 10,000 a month for 10 users and 1 stockyard; Growth and Enterprise are on custom quote. Vyapar's website also says its mobile app is free to use. The two are priced for different jobs, so compare them against the work each one takes off your team.
Does Vyapar work offline?
Vyapar's website says the app works both offline and online and syncs when you reconnect, on Android, iOS, Windows and Mac. SteelERP is a cloud application hosted on AWS in Mumbai, with a separate database for each customer and optional daily backups to S3.
