Where BUSY is stronger
Credit where it is due. Based on BUSY's own website and public filings, these are real strengths that SteelERP does not match:
- Full accounting. Ledgers, vouchers, profit & loss and balance sheet. SteelERP does not keep books of account.
- GST returns and e-documents. BUSY advertises one-click GSTR-1/2A/2B/3B reconciliation, and its pricing page lists e-way bill and e-invoice creation from the SMART plan upwards. SteelERP generates neither e-way bills nor e-invoice IRNs.
- Price of entry. BUSY Magic has a free Express edition, then paid plans from Rs 5,000 per 360 days plus GST.
- Track record. BUSY says it has 30+ years in the market and serves 6,00,000+ businesses. Busy Infotech was incorporated in 1997, and IndiaMART agreed in January 2022 to buy 100% of it for Rs 500 crore and completed the purchase in April 2022.
- Broad inventory basics. Multi-godown stock, transfers between locations, batch and expiry tracking, serial numbers, item variants and multiple units per item.
Where SteelERP fits
Steel is sold in tonnes, loaded in pieces and bundles, and rarely dispatched in one go. SteelERP is built around that:
- Weight-based trading. Each item carries the ordered weight and the actual loaded weight, and you bill on the actual. Tonnage conversions are built in.
- Part-deliveries. One order can split into delivery sub-orders by kg, metre or piece. Each sub-order has its own loading, challan and delivery status.
- Purchase side. A purchase order can have several purchase advices, and goods are received against each advice.
- Yard stock and coils. Multi-warehouse stock, with each user limited to their own yards, plus a coil-level ledger that shows allocation and movement history.
- Trading analytics. 50+ reports, including GST summary, TCS and discounts. Also advisory demand forecasts, anomaly detection, reorder suggestions and a weekly PDF report by email.
- Challans on WhatsApp. Challan PDFs go out from your own WhatsApp Business account.

Is SteelERP a replacement for BUSY?
No. SteelERP is not an accounting package. It does not keep books of account, file GST returns, or generate e-invoices or e-way bills, and BUSY does all of these on its SMART plan and above (per busy.in/pricing). SteelERP runs the steel trading operations around your books: inquiries, orders, weight-based dispatch, part-deliveries, challans, yard stock and the coil ledger.
Can SteelERP sync with BUSY?
Not through a ready-made connector. SteelERP's built-in accounting integration is two-way with Tally Prime. If your books are in BUSY, raise it on a demo so we can go through how order and challan data would reach your accounts before you decide.
Does SteelERP generate e-way bills or e-invoices?
No. SteelERP puts CGST, SGST or IGST with the HSN code on each order line and gives you a GST summary report, but it does not generate e-way bills or e-invoice IRNs. According to BUSY's pricing page, e-way bill and e-invoice creation is included from its SMART plan upwards.
How does the pricing compare?
On busy.in/pricing (retrieved 11 September 2026) BUSY Magic is listed as a free Express edition and paid plans of Rs 5,000, Rs 8,000, Rs 12,000 and Rs 50,000 per 360 days, with GST added. BUSY also sells BUSY 21 editions (Basic Rs 11,000, Standard Rs 16,500, Enterprise Rs 22,000, GST extra) and separately priced Online and Mobile products. SteelERP Starter is Rs 10,000 per month for 10 users and 1 stockyard; Growth and Enterprise are on custom quote. The two products do different jobs, so the prices are not like-for-like.
Does BUSY handle multiple godowns and batches?
Yes, according to its own website. BUSY's inventory page lists multi-godown inventory, stock transfer between locations, batch-wise tracking with manufacture and expiry dates, serial number tracking, multiple units per item and reorder-level reports.
Where is SteelERP data hosted?
SteelERP runs on AWS in Mumbai, with a separate database for each customer. Daily backups to S3 are available as an option.
