Hot-rolled (HR), cold-rolled (CR) and galvanised (GI/GP) coil is bought by the tonne, part-issued and re-weighed at dispatch. Generic accounting software treats a coil as one line and quietly loses the difference. In SteelERP each coil can be its own record — tag or batch number, the mill’s reference, colour, received date, original weight and length — and every issue reduces that coil’s remaining weight, so a yard’s stock of a size always equals the sum of the coils in it.
Every order line carries the ordered weight and the actual loaded weight, and the challan bills the actual figure. Printed challans are then available to Tally through the integration, without re-keying.

From mill shipment to challan
A mill shipment arrives against a purchase advice on your purchase order, so partial shipments against one PO stay separate. At unloading, each coil is entered with its tag number and weight and linked to the advice line it came on, into the yard that received it.
When a sales order is booked, you allocate coils to it. The coils stay in stock while held; the weight leaves stock when the delivery is loaded and the challan raised. If a challan is reversed or a sub-order cancelled, the weight goes back onto the same coil. Weight corrections and write-offs are recorded as coil movements, and a written-off coil keeps the reason it was removed.
Stock-movement reports by product and sub-category, with drill-down and Excel export, and low-stock reporting against a minimum level you set per size and yard, read the same figures.

Can I bill coil by weight instead of by coil?
Yes. Coil lines are billed in kilograms. Every order line carries the ordered weight and the actual loaded weight, and the challan and bill use the actual figure. If you track a size coil by coil, each issue also reduces the remaining weight of the coil it came from.
Does SteelERP handle HR, CR and GI coil?
Yes. HR, CR and GI/GP coil are set up as categories, products and sizes in your catalogue. Each size has its own thickness and weight, and the HSN code set on its product drives GST, so stock is kept per size.
How is the actual weight of a coil lorry recorded?
